Pharmacy Merchandizing

According to research carried out by Mayo Clinic and Olmstead Medical Center, nearly 70% of Americans are on one prescription drug, and more than half take two. With this, it can be realized that the pharmaceutical industry is a multibillion dollar industry. How do you then get a fair share of these large sales in your pharmacy?

Pharmacy merchandizingmeans creating an environment which makes customers want to buy your particular pharmacy’s products. Just like any other retail, your aim should be to generate more sales through consumer psychology and several forms of marketing. You should understand impulse buying can be initiated with products nicely and attractively display. You should also understand that a lot people shop on impulse and many of their purchases are inspired by curiosity and emotions. Yeah, it’s a pharmacy and there are restrictions. Yet, there are normal products that can still be used to attract.

The first aim of pharmacy merchandizing is to get the right customers to your store through creating the right pharmacy image. You have to put premium on your reputation. From the sale of products that are FDA certified and are not expired or damage, you are building a brand for standard.

You need a strong pharmacy merchandizing strategyas it is an important and vital aspect of boosting sales. You don’t just focus on selling only what people need; there are a few factors you need to focus on. Attention must be paid to arrangement so that customers can easily find what they are looking for; you should also target how to strategically place items to tempt customers into impulse buying.

Furthermore, ensure that your products are right for the season. Study the seasons to know the cold and allergy seasons and then have products for them beforehand. People would develop cold in the winter; you should plan for this before winter. The prices might increase during winter as there will be more demand for it in the market.

Leverage on big displays for seasonal items. People would appreciate knowing before they enter the store to start looking around if you have some items; have them advertised through banners. You should have a flexible arrangement as things may need to be moved around a lot.

The front end of your store is where people notice first; it should flow with the season. For instance, in the summer, people would want more of sunscreen; position the front end to display this highly needed seasonal product. You don’t want to still have sunscreen on front end display during winter.

You can create a zone for some items and don’t be afraid to display them more than once because customers can miss them if they are only in one place. Thus, don’t be too rigid in your arrangement; be flexible and adaptable.

New products are very important; they are advertised continually on social and mass media and people would want to try them out. Let people know you have been getting the product in every category.
