How to Get Paleo Certification

How To Get Paleo Certification For Food And Beverage Products

A typical Paleo diet is designed to be a food guide based on Paleolithic terms or semblance to the type of foods human ancestors ate thousands of years ago.

It is not distinctively clear what human ancestors really ate all those years ago, and so an accurate meal plan cannot be formed. However, certain seemingly reasonable deductions have been made, and it was concluded that these ancestors ate whole and unprocessed foods.

Modeling a food plan on this theory would simply translate to a diet plan with as many whole foods as possible, totally avoiding processed foods, sugars, grains, and canned food, and making sure to eat only what has been naturally sourced.

Paleo Certification

As with many other foods and products, paleo eaters need to know that what they are buying fits perfectly into their meal plan. Though it is essential to check the ingredient list before purchasing, a certification label puts the consumer’s mind at ease and convinces them to make the right choice.

The standard for Paleo Certification is usually products that are made with ingredients which are not grains, food additives, legumes, and dairy. Paleo certification is the highest form of paleo certification for paleo foods and products. In the present day, even though the objective is to eat and adopt the dietary lifestyle of human ancestors, it is necessary to improve the shelf-life of paleo products. On these grounds, an allowance has been made to include some modern forms of processing and packaging.

Paleo Certification Process

The steps involved in paleo certification of food and beverages include;

Application

Application is the first step towards certification. It would be required to offer producer information, which, rest assured, would be kept confidential.

Pre-Audit

At this stage, the initial product testing is carried out.  After the testing, the results are compiled, and the cost is calculated, including an invoice for payment, and sent back to the producer. If the producer feels the cost of the test is agreeable, he can send feedback to enable the certifiers to proceed to the next stage.

First Audit

This stage lasts between 6-8 weeks, and it is where the producer is required to present a comprehensive ingredient list for the certifiers to ensure that the product complies with grain-free, gluten-free standards.

Second Audit

At this stage, the product will be tested further in the laboratory to ensure that it is accurately gluten-free. It will also be tested for competitiveness among products of the same kind and peculiarity to ensure its grain-free state is top-notch.

Agreement

Once the product has passed through all these tests successfully, and the certifiers find it worthy of certification, they draft an agreement and send it to the producer via Signnow.com. Contained in this agreement are the rules governing the use of paleo trademark labels.

Certification

After signing the agreement, the producer is granted approval and the right to use the trademarked labels sent to him. Then the product will be shared, posted, and advertised on the website or their social media pages.

Renewal

This license is subject to renewal annually. The producer will be required to provide updated information on their product and manufacturing process.
